PSHE

Personal, Social and Health Education

We use the Jigsaw resource to help us to delver the PSHE curriculum. It is a mindful approach and brings together Personal, Social, Health Education, emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development in a comprehensive scheme of learning which challenges the children in their thinking and responses, making them aware of, and celebratory of, difference. This is especially important in our rural location.

Lessons are generally very open to encourage our learners to listen and respect one another and appreciate our various points of view and experiences. For class teachers, it allows opportunity to develop their relationship with the class, getting to know them better as unique human beings. Teaching strategies are varied and are mindful of preferred learning styles.

Jigsaw is designed as a whole school approach, with all year groups working on the same theme (Puzzle) at the same time. This enables each Puzzle to start with an introductory assembly, generating a whole school focus for adults and children alike.

There are 6 different themes developed each half term through the year.

Autumn 1      Being in my World

Autumn 2      Celebrating Differences

Spring 1        Dreams and Goals

Spring 2        Healthy Me

Summer 1     Relationships

Summer 2     Changing Me
