The children decided they would like to create a wild flower garden area in the school. This will encourage more pollinators in to the grounds. Work is still ongoing.
A new crop of potatoes have been planted and Long Marton School have entered in to a ‘grow your own’ potatoes competition. They will harvest the potatoes and weigh them on 12th June 2018. An interesting blue variety have also been grown.
A big THANK YOU to H Pigney & Son, Appleby who donated gloves, spades and a pop up greenhouse which the children enjoyed putting together.
They have been planting seeds ready for the new summer term.
During the Winter the Greenfingers committee were very busy with planning future events, deciding what they wanted to grow and making applications to the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) and the Woodland Trust. We are pleased to announce Long Marton School have gained Level 2 Awards with both organisations.
