ECO CLUB - Spring and Summer

During the Winter the Greenfingers

committee were very busy with planning future events, deciding what they wanted to grow and making applications to the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) and the Woodland Trust.  We are pleased to announce Long Marton School have gained Level 2 Awards with both organisations.

A BIG THANK YOU to H Pigney & Son, Appleby who donated gloves, spades and a pop up greenhouse which the children enjoyed putting together.

The club were awarded a THRIVING award at the recent Cumbria in Bloom presentation event.

The children decided that they would like to create  a wild flower garden area in the school. This will encourage more pollinators in to the grounds.

Look how it’s grown over the summer holiday.

A new crop of potatoes were planted and

Long Marton School entered into a 'Grow your own'potatoes competition.

The potatoes were harvested and weighed on 12th June 2018.  An interesting 'blue' variety have been grown.
